ANIMO#1 – CUM NOBIS (2013-2014)
is the first interactive dance installation of the cycle of creations ⇒ANIMO which mixe dance, digital art and computer research.
This dance installation is set up as an interactive triptych. Three touch screen human size deal with the Animo’s topic guided by the book The Expression of the emotion in Man and Animals by Darwin. The choreography is inspired by acquired animals habits that are passed down from generation to generation even though they are useless.
The three digital screen represent three life size dancers that visitors are invited to animate individually or in groups. Touching the screen, visitors pilot the movement of the virtual body’s performers and by doing so, they give life to them. A gestural dialogue between visitors and performers is established : « your touch is bringing out in us our animal’s origin! Are we existing only because of you and your tribe who manipulate us? Are we all intended to become objects?”
Each touch of the visitor and danced movement by the performers are associated to sounds. Together they also re-compose a music.
Through its interactive form, A#1- cum explores the relationship between dance and music with the audience. It experiments another time and space for dance, different from a performance on stage. Displayed on three screen, it suggests the traces of an animality, a choreography and a music to recompose relentlessly.

TECHNOLOGY :
The coherence between the ANIMO’s topic and the future art work requested the development of sophisticated technologies. In order to achieve this, Gwendaline Bachini teamed up with French researchers on perception such as the laboratory INRIA Grenoble and the companies 4D View Solutions and Sip Conseil. All of them specialize in computer vision, creation and edition of sequences named « 4D ». They set up a R&D computer project called Creamove labelled Imaginove and funded by FUI. The triptych ANIMO#1 is the starting point of this partnership. Each stage of the Creamove’s advancements will be included in ANIMO’s interactives installations.

ANIMO#1 – NOBISCUM (2013-2014)
est le premier volet du cycle de création dénommé ⇒ANIMO alliant danse, art numérique et recherche en informatique. En se déplaçant parmi trois écrans tactiles le visiteur rencontre l’image de danseurs à taille humaine. En les effleurant, il leur donne vie, orientant leurs mouvements et impulsant une création sonore. Ni mâle ni femelle, ces danseurs virtuels puisent leur gestuelle dans l’origine animale de l’homme. Le visiteur redonne sens alors à ces mouvements et instaure un dialogue gestuel qui recompose une chorégraphie, un rythme et une musique.

TECHNOLOGIE :
Pour rendre le contenu cohérent avec sa forme, Gwendaline Bachini a engagé un partenariat avec des chercheurs en informatique. Deux entreprises, 4Dview Solution, SIP Conseil et l’équipe Morpheo de l’INRIA à Grenoble. Ensemble ils ont conçu le projet R&D Creamove (2012-2015). Ce projet est financé par le FUI et labellisé par le pôle Imaginove. Le triptyque A#1-CUM est le point de départ de ce partenariat. En 2014 es dernières avancées technologiques de CreaMove sont impliquées dans ANIMO.
